The Smart Bin is not named so because of its IQ, but rather for the clever way in which it works. All you have to do is hold the rubbish you are throwing away in front of the bin and the lid swings open almost instantaneously. This means that when you are scooping leftovers or placing anything else in the bin you do not have to lift the lid or hold it open.

The main advantage of this bin is that it is very hygienic as you do not have to touch it to open it, and it’s also a pretty nifty kitchen gadget and should impress any guests that might come to visit, it might even encourage them to clear up a bit and throw some stuff away.

Using infra-red technology the bin is able to sense movement and will automatically open once an object is placed in front of it. Inside is a removable pail, so you can either empty the bin using this or use a conventional bin liner.

They come in two sizes, a 50 litre and a 30 litre. Both are stainless steel and have a chrome finished lid. The bin will stay open until you have moved away.
